Planting Letterboxes

Hi!
We are starting to think ahead for when we want to plant some of our own letterboxes. I've read the FAQ sections that discusses how we're not to put boxes on national parks, and to check local guidelines for state parks. But what about places like public/city parks? What if there is no information on city/county website about geocaching or letterboxing?
What do you wish you'd have known when you were just starting out planting letterboxes? I appreciate any tips you have to share!
Thanks!
Melissa

If you've checked their website and the LbNA park policy list then I think you've made a reasonable effort. Sometimes it's best to ask forgiveness rather than waiting until you have explicit permission. At least that's my personal view.

We've found that the best way to find how to plant letterboxes is by finding a bunch. Imitate the letterboxes that you enjoy finding the most.
